In recent years most enthusiasts of the Northern Ireland bus scene have concentrated on the well known fleet of RELLs; however  it is less generally known that one of the the largest fleet of operational Leyland Leopards in the UK is also in NI. Leopards have operated continuously in Northern Ireland since the purchase of the initial batch of 'Wolfhounds' by the UTA in 1965 (481-6 2481-6 OZ). Out of 620 delivered new to Ulsterbus, the final 30 or so examples lasted in service until the end of June 2006, an inredible record of service for a single type of vehicle. Numerous secondhand examples were also acquired from the National Bus Company, the Scottish Bus Group and independent operators.
